An Open Letter to Family & Friends (Pg.5)

face….Shouldn’t we expect far greater glory when the Holy Spirit is giving life?…So if the old covenant, which has been set aside, was full of glory, then the new covenant, which remains forever, has far greater glory… We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel could not see the glory fading away. But the people’s minds were hardened, and even to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, a veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth.. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings (Pentateuch/ Torah), their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, then the veil is taken away.” (2 Cor. 3: 4- 16 NLT),

We thank God that after decades of hanging on to the veil of Moses, by His grace alone, God removed that veil so now we can see what the  Old Testament, and the Old Covenant were pointing to: THE MESSIAH, the Son of God.

This past Christmas, our family of 9 had a reunion in Southern California. I immediately noticed the difference on how our one granddaughter and 2 grandsons handled a gift at the time they were between 1- 2 years old, and at almost 3 and a little over 4 years old. When they were younger, they obsessed  on the wrapping paper. Never mind the box. Sometimes they would eat the paper. This time around, they could not wait to tear at the wrapper and get right into the real gift! This childish behavior reminds me of the Pharisees and religious leaders during Jesus’ time . These  fanatics were so “wrapped up” in the wrapper (of Moses’ law),  that when the MESSIAH, the REAL GIFT beneath those wrappers was revealed, they rejected Him… and killed Him!

We believe that our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed, and that we have only one outstanding debt to humanity, “the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not covet,’ and whatever commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” (Rom. 13: 8-10 NIV).

We believe that the one and only continuing, authoritative, and reliable source of TRUTH and guidance for God’s church in these last days is His Son (Heb. 1:2). We believe that the true SEAL of every believer is the Spirit of God (Eph. 1:13 NIV). We also believe that the true test of DISCIPLESHIP is what Christ himself said, “all men will know that you are my disciples, if you LOVE one another.”(John 13: 35 NIV). Need we say more?

Yours in Jesus’ Love,
